ACU Mary MacKillop Campus

North Sydney, NSW

The ACU North Sydney Campus undertook a landscape improvement program to improve student and teacher amenities and increase awareness of the universities’ public address and entry. The campus had traditionally evolved around a residential heritage building and its gardens. The inspiration here was to link the existing site features and create a community campus composed of social spaces.

To this end the landscape upgrade was to restore the Vice Chancellery building as the central focus of the university grounds and integrate its prominent location within the day to day student activity. Student amenities included contemplative garden areas, a Mary MacKillop forecourt garden, a refurbished roof terrace, new pedestrian connections, rationalised car parking areas, a restored heritage garden as well as a new pedestrian street entrance.
