Tuckombil, NSW 2020 – 2022

This project was a garden renovation located in the hinterland of Byron Bay. The house is positioned at the end of a long driveway through an established avocado orchard set on top of a hill with commanding views towards the coast. My aim was to provide a plan that was simple and
understated taking the approach that ‘less is more’. The design themes were to highlight the buildings within their surroundings, create a series of gardens that connected the existing buildings and structures and establish a planting theme of perennials, flowering trees, hedges and a meadow grassland. Considering the gardens were adjacent the avocado orchard, the clients were very keen to select plants that would attract bees. Other features of the design included formalising the entry forecourt, creating a walled kitchen garden, a sculpture walk connecting the barn and the main house and a dining terrace and plunge pool on the northern terrace.
