Private Estate 01

Bangalow, NSW

A 40 hectare grazing property located at the head of a small catchment in the Northern Rivers. This project is the restoration of rainforest along the riparian corridor and the protection of the perennial stream. The ecological goals were to increase wildlife habitat, protect water quality, restore the riparian corridor, remove cattle from the watercourse, remove woody weeds as well as enhance properties biodiversity.

Natural Sequence Farming principles were heeded and provided an invaluable planning tool to integrate environmental goals and livestock management needs. The landscape plan takes advantage of the large scale landscape, remnant vegetation, botanical opportunities and long vistas underpinned by an environmental aesthetic. Stage 1 included restoration of the rainforest to the previously grazing paddocks at the uppermost catchment of the riparian corridor and remedial works to the top dam.
